Understanding LIGHT
Typically, the last thing you think about; but, the first thing you see.

Simply ELEGANT SOLUTION
- Smoke and mirrors, plus a glowing wand, two downlights and narrow diffuse floor-to-ceiling window is all the illumination this powder room needs. Magic!
- Photo was featured in a 2004 Street of Dreams magazine article on making daylight and view openings illuminate architectural space and surfaces, day and night.
- Here the corner window, shaded by porch roof, glows with diffused daylight; and, at night, the indirect porch ceiling light adds the glow.
DESIGN SERVICE vs "FREE DESIGN"
- Understanding LIGHT combines science and art, requires knowledge, time and inspiration. By paying a fee for service you are receiving expert advice, specific to your needs and project; only then can you freely shop for equipment and installation.
- Showrooms offering free design are either selling you short, or themselves. How can you realistically expect someone to give you hours of service AND a good deal on equipment? Chances are their plans and quote will be concealed until you commit to purchase (what). Small wonder you feel like shopping the quote around to get a another opinion; but, what are you comparing except price?
- Assure yourself, get value for your investment by hire a lighting designer before pricing equipment.
Example #2

- To get this shot, designer's photographer flooded room with several thousand watts of light.
- Central light is mounted over four feet above table, three 75W bulbs seen through metal screen, provided little more than glare and a detailed view of lamp's imperfect interior. "It looked great in the catalogue."
Simple SOLUTION
- I placed spun-silk diffusion film behind the metal screen, softening glow onto table, allowing ceiling to become visible. This photograph renders the most accurate picture of the lighting scene.
- Take off the ball cap and enjoy dinner with family and friends.
